Spring Band Camp
One Saturday in late April
It all begins with fun! Join us to kick off a new year of Marching Band!
New and Continuing Students will learn Marching Band basics, play music, team-build, and learn the new Show Theme for the year!
There will be a Mandatory Parent Orientation Meeting starting at the same time as Spring Camp. Parents will fill out required Medical forms and receive important documents. The Directors and Band Boosters will be introduced to the parents and give and presentation about Marching Band and the new year’s expectations, goals and objectives. We will go over the year’s calendar, including game and competition schedules. There will be a question and answer portion and parents will get the opportunity to learn about committees and choose the areas they will volunteer with.
Last 2 weeks of summer
Marching Band Camp is always the last 2 full weeks of summer before school starts at Mountain View High School. A good Marching Band show starts with a successful band camp. We begin marching together on the field during camp. As such, attendance at Band Camp is mandatory. There is also a cost associated with Band Camp that will be due before camp begins.
A typical day at Band Camp includes a variety of activities to help the band members learn the show and grow as a team. We start learning the season’s show music and drill. Sectional rehearsals and drill clinics help with specific skills. Games, spirit days, section activities and large group activities help the students bond as a Band and as a Section. There is a Band Camp Fee. See the Band Camp Page for more details.

Fridays Sept-Nov
We are a big part of the Spirit and Energy at the Football Game. We work with the Cheer and Pom teams to coordinate our music and energize the fans. Come ready to have some fun! Students sit in the Band area (the left end of the stands) arranged by section. Parents and Families of the Band sit together in a section directly next to the band so you can hear and see them play. Come out to support the band and volunteer to help fill and haul water, set up the band area in the stands, hand out uniforms, braid hair, move instruments or equipment, etc. More information and sample itinerary on the Football Games Page. Games are typically on Fridays, games start at 7:00pm.
Saturdays Sept-Nov
Marching Band Competitions are a lot of fun for the kids and the families. The kids get to meet students from other High School Marching Bands and watch shows from other teams. As a parent/family spectator you get to see a variety of shows and see how fun and different the shows can be. Being in a crowd of Marching Band enthusiasts has a completely different vibe from the football games. Come ready to be amazed! Students will travel to and from the Competition as a team. Our performance time slot will be announced before the event and communicated to families. All spectators sit in the Home stands, but we try to sit together as Mountain View Band fans in the stands. Come out to support the band and volunteer to chaperone, be on the truck crew, help fill and haul water, move instruments or equipment, hand out uniforms, braid hair, etc. Competitions are on Saturdays, our time slot is usually in the evening. See the full calendar and more details on the Competition page.
