Marching Band Music Rehearsal if You're in Town

All members of the 2009 Toro Marching Band are encouraged to attend a music rehearsal on Tuesday, July 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the Mountain View Band Room. We will sight read through the entire marching show. If you are in town, you should be there! Don't forget to print your music and bring it with you!

Training Sessions for New Marching Band Members

All members that are new to the Toro Marching Band for the 2009 season are required to attend basic marching skills training on the dates listed below. All of these sessions will be held at the Mountain View practice field. Please wear light-colored clothing that is appropriate for the heat. Sunscreen should be worn at all times. Hats and sunglasses are a plus. Tennis shoes and socks are required. No flip-flops or sandals.

Thursday, July 16     7:00-10:00 a.m.
Friday, July 17          7:00-10:00 a.m.
Monday, July 20       7:00-10:00 a.m.

Required Pre-Band Camp Parents Meeting

There will be a required parents meeting on Thursday, July 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Mountain View Auditorium (North Pod). Band Camp will be the primary topic, but there will also be information about the upcoming marching season, competition schedule, and football schedule. If your student will be taking over-the-counter or prescription medications to Band Camp, please bring a completed "Permission to Self-Medicate" Form for each medication and turn it in at this meeting. You can download and print these forms using the link below. Shoe order forms for new members will be distributed at this meeting as well.

You can download the form here. Please turn in completed forms at the parent meeting on July 16. You must have a separate form for each medication the student will be taking while at camp.

Band Camp for all Marching Band Members

The annual Toro Marching Band Camp will be held once again at Bison Ranch in Overgaard, AZ. Dates for the camp are July 20 - 26, 2009. This camp is a requirement for all marching band members. Mountain View Toro Marching Band Registration

By now, if you are planning on being a member of the 2009-2010 Toro Marching Band, you should have turned in the Preliminary Registration Form with your first $50 payment. If you did not, it is imperative that you contact Mr. Burgener immediately if you plan on being a member. The show is already in the design process, and the longer you wait, the less of a chance there is for you to be added in. For those of you who did turn in Preliminary Registration Forms, you will be receiving a mailing in the next week or so with instructions that detail how to complete the final registration process. Here are the links to the forms that you need to download and print. Just click on the name of each form below to download it. Please remember, if you have Microsoft Word, please download the Word version of the registration forms, fill them out on your computer, and then print them. If you do not have Word, please download the PDF version, print it, and then fill it out by hand. All forms and payments are due to Mr. Burgener no later than May 1, 2009.

Toro Marching Band is Fiesta Bowl Bound!

Congratulations to the Toro Marching Band for being selected as next year's Blue Cross Blue Shield Fiesta Bowl Honor Band and Arizona representative to the Fiesta Bowl National Band Championship and Fiesta Bowl parade. The band will perform in the National Band Championship on January 1, 2010 and the Fiesta Bowl Parade on January 2, 2010. This is a big honor for our band program, and it comes with a $2,000 check from the Fiesta Bowl to help enhance our show next year. Way to go, band!
